Harmonville Fire Company was founded in 1924 to protect and save the citizens of the Plymouth Township community. As the town grew, the business grew. Equipped with state-of-the-art vehicles and equipment, volunteers are trained to protect the community.

Last year, the company responded to more than 700 emergencies. Harmonville receives fire calls involving all types of structures; including homes, businesses and the Plymouth Meeting Mall. The company’s proximity to the blue route and the toll motorway results in a constant flow of calls. The company is ready and prepared for any type of emergency.

Members of the Harmonville Fire Company live by three principles: honor in their call to service; a family that supports each other; and the community’s commitment to treating all people with dignity and respect.

Volunteers cherish their experience within the company, the many educational opportunities, friendships and service to the community.

According to Firefighter Hope Mitchell, “You will never have another experience in your life quite like this – between the thrill of a call, the camaraderie, the happiness of completing a job and the total exhaustion after a job. long work – nothing compares to that. “

Battalion Commander Michael Sturm is delighted with his education. “I received a lot of training for free! Everything from national fire certification and rescue to code enforcement, all for free. These opportunities, he believes, will propel him into any career he chooses.

Harmonville Fire Company is looking for exceptional volunteers who believe in its principles. There are many roles of volunteers, and not just those of frontline workers.

Firefighter

Volunteers who want to get started are encouraged to become firefighters. There is enough excitement to last a lifetime. All training and equipment will be provided.

Vehicle rescue

Volunteers are trained to thrive in high stress situations where a few seconds could be the difference between life and death. Harmonville’s proximity to major roads like the Blue Route and the Toll Highway requires volunteers who are proactive and willing to learn how to perform quick vehicle rescues. The company lives by its motto “The Pride of the Pike” and is keen to help those involved in car accidents.

Firefighters

To ensure the safety of the public and firefighters in an emergency, firefighters are responsible for directing the flow of traffic and crowds. Bringing calm to a hectic situation as a member of the fire police is the perfect way to help “on the scene” without having to participate in rescue or firefighting efforts.

Junior firefighter

Those who are impatient to act, but too young to enter buildings on fire, can join the junior program from the age of 14. Young volunteers gain real-world experience and at 18 can become adult firefighters. This experience looks great on job and college applications.

Administrative volunteer

Dedicated community members are needed to bring their administrative skills to help with fundraising, securing grants, strategic planning, organizing community events, and paperwork.
