Tom Fletcher Reflects On “Hardest Week” Before Strictly Show

Strictly Come Dancing’s Tom Fletcher admitted that this week’s rehearsals had worn him out.

The McFly star juggles rehearsals for the popular BBC One show with multiple gigs, and it certainly hasn’t been easy for him.

Addressing his Instagram Story on Saturday afternoon, Tom, a father of three, said he was preparing for his first live performance on the Strictly dance floor with his partner Amy Dowden.

Lying on the couch filming himself, Tom told his two million followers, “So today is day, or tonight is night, I should say. It’s Strictly.

“We just made our call to the band, just repeat it twice with the band, that’s why I’m so out of breath. But it’s great doing it with the band live, it’s completely different.”

Tom continued, “It’s the most exhausting thing I’ve ever done, ever. Turning, strictly speaking, has been the hardest week, I can’t even begin to tell you that.

“But I hope all of this hard work pays off tonight if I can make it through the night. Tonight don’t miss Strictly!” he added.

Next week probably won’t be any easier for Tom, as he will perform with his McFly band mates in Glasgow, Liverpool and Nottingham.

Tom revealed that he and his partner Amy Dowden received lucky flowers from his bandmate McFly, Dougie Poynter.

Before his first dance with his professional partner Amy, Tom revealed that his bandmate Dougie Poynter sent them a huge bouquet of flowers.

Speaking to the camera, Tom said, “So Amy and I just got these flowers. I wonder who they are from… only Dougie!”

The accompanying card read, “Dear Tom and Amy, fear not, love Dougie.”

“Doug, watch you bring us flowers, it’s not like you are, is it?” Tom laughed. “Thanks Doug, we’ll do our best not to suck. “

Tom, 36, and Amy, 31, will speak to perform September, the hit track from Cha Cha to Earth Wind & Fire.

Tom is “incredibly excited” but “totally terrified” of taking on the new challenge, despite previous dance experience from his stint at the prestigious Sylvia Young Theater School where he met his wife Giovanna ‘Gi’ Falcone, at just age 13.

In a conversation with HELLO!, Giovanna admitted that their relationship has gone through different phases since the beginning of their teenage love affair.

“When we first met we only dated for two days, then we had the whole teen drama, ‘I love you, no, then he kissed all my friends like teenagers do!”

But that wasn’t enough to keep them apart, as she added, “The feeling of knowing what’s important and not getting lost in the ‘fluff’ was really what kept us so strong together.”

Strictly Come Dancing airs Saturday at 7 p.m. on BBC One.
